Tech Tools / Show Timer

Show Timer

Run-of-show countdown, count-up, or clock — plus a confidence-monitor message. Open a clean output window, drag it to another display, and go fullscreen.

Use at your own risk. This is a planning / confidence aid, not a safety-critical show-stop system. Always keep a hardware timer or stage-manager backup. On phones (especially iOS), popups may be limited — open the output URL in a second tab. Timing uses wall-clock timestamps so background tabs stay accurate.

Live output preview

10:00

Shortcuts: Space = start/pause · R = reset · Output: F = fullscreen. iOS: use “Open output tab” then Add to Home Screen / fullscreen from Safari if needed.

Transport

Run-of-show cues (optional)

CueDuration

Sources

  • Timing: wall-clock timestamps (Date.now) — remaining = endAt − now — avoids setInterval drift when tabs are backgrounded.
  • Sync: BroadcastChannel with localStorage fallback for cross-window state.
  • Display: Fullscreen API; optional Window Management API (getScreenDetails) when available (Chromium).

What this show timer does

It drives a clean fullscreen countdown, count-up, clock, or message on a second window — ideal for stage managers and downstage confidence monitors.

Sync

Control and output share state via BroadcastChannel with localStorage fallback so reloads keep the same cue.

Tips

  • Keep a hardware backup timer for critical cues.
  • Preload fonts on the output display before doors.

FAQ

How do I put the timer on another monitor?

Click Open output window, drag it to the confidence display, then press F or Go Fullscreen.

Will the timer drift if the control tab is in the background?

No. Timing uses wall-clock timestamps (endAt − now), not accumulating intervals.

Does it work on iPhone?

The control page works on phones. iOS may block popups — open the output URL in a second tab.

Need show calling?

Kynetic runs corporate and medical shows — timers, confidence, and stage management included.
